چکیده

A self-popped up flap is added to the airfoil (S809) suction surface improve aerodynamic performance under large angle of attack (AOA) inspired by slightly popped feathers on trailing edge a bird’s wing. The response methodology (RSM) optimization H, D, and θ conducted. lift–drag ratio an taken as target, Box–Behnken design adopted experiment scheme for θ. Multivariate quadratic polynomials are used carry out equation regression analysis combined results 17 sample schemes, mathematical surrogate model between structure parameters optimal parameter combination obtained. clean with compared analyzed from static dynamic characteristics numerical simulation. calculation show that obtained RSM increases pressure difference surfaces at AOA, suppresses flow separation surface, delays stall AOA. leads smaller vortex wake vortex, therefore delaying effect.

Design Oriented Aerodynamic Modelling of Wind Turbine Performance

The development of a wind turbine aerodynamics model using a Boundary Integral Equation model (BIEM) is presented. The methodology is valid to study inviscid unsteady flows around three dimensional bodies of arbitrary shape and arbitrarily moving with respect to the incoming flow. The extension of this methodology to study viscosity effects in turbine blade flow at high angle of attack is addre...

Numerical Investigation of S822 Wind Turbine Airfoil

We carried out direct numerical simulations of the flow past a two-dimensional S822 wind turbine blade section at a chord Reynolds number of Re=100,000 and an angle of attack of α = 5deg. Without blade rotation the separated boundary layer “rolls up” into spanwise vortices which then “break up” into smaller scale structures leading to transition to turbulence. Simulation results compare favorab...

Aerodynamic Analysis of a Helical Vertical Axis Wind Turbine

Vertical axis wind turbines (VAWTs) are gradually receiving more and more interest due to their lower sensitivity to the yawed wind direction. Compared with straight blades VAWT, blades with a certain helicity show a better aerodynamic performance and less noise emission. Nowadays computational fluid dynamics technology is frequently applied to VAWTs and gives results that can reflect real flow...

Effect of Reduced Frequency on the Unsteady Aerodynamic Performance of a Wind Turbine Blade Section

The blades of wind turbines are the most important parts in producing power output. In this study, a section of a 660 KW wind turbine blade will be installed in Iran in near future was tested in a wind tunnel. In addition to steady tests, various unsteady tests including the effects of reduced frequency, mean angle of attack, and amplitudes were carried out. The preliminary results show strong ...
